Building Signage – Het Energiehuis
It’s impossible to miss: on three sides of the old power station on the Noordendijk, the word ENERGIEHUIS now proudly stands out in large, graphic block letters.
First, we cut masks (stencils) and carefully positioned them on site.
To ensure a long-lasting result, we then applied the necessary bonding primer to the stone within the stencils using a brush and roller. The finishing touch was traditional white lime paint. This choice was obvious: the character of this paint perfectly matches the age and historic nature of the building.
After carefully removing the stencils, the result was stunning—immense in scale, crisp, and precise: ENERGIEHUIS. It’s worth noting that the carefully selected combination of primer and paint guarantees colorfastness for 10 years.

Het is niet te missen: op drie zijden van de oude elektriciteitscentrale aan de Noordendijk prijkt sinds deze week in grote, grafische blokletters het woord Energiehuis. ’We hebben bewust gekozen voor een wat ouderwetser lettertype’, vertelt Aline de Jong van het Energiehuis. ‘We zijn er erg blij mee, het is een stijlvolle manier om mensen welkom te heten’. Het plaatsen van de letters nam de nodige tijd in beslag. Na maanden van overleg, is uiteindelijk voor dit ontwerp gekozen op het monumentale pand’. (Bron: AD ‘De Dordtenaar).
A Job on a High Level, Literally and Figuratively!
This time, it wasn’t about printed panels or other self-adhesive materials. Instead, we painted directly onto the bricks!
Of course, we can provide materials that can be applied directly to such surfaces. However, the assignment called for a different approach due to the character of the building.

Now everyone can find Het Energiehuis—there’s no way to miss it. But who are the users inside this building?
To make this clear, we applied the users’ logos to the glass of the main entrance as well as on the roller doors, printed in two colors on cast vinyl—a substrate with virtually unmatched durability. To complete the project, we also produced and installed informational signs.
It’s clear that, as a proudly Dordrecht-based company, we are honored to have been entrusted with providing the iconic signage for this unique building on the Noordendijk, which also happens to be the birthplace of Boer & Van Wijk.
