There was a time, not so long ago, we were cutting with a knife along a ruler, a labor-intensive task that took a lot of time. To overcome this, we invested in a computer-controlled cutting table from the renowned brand Zünd.
The table is sized to handle the maximum formats produced by our printers. It’s amazing how this type of finishing is now casually referred to as “just a quick cut.”
Below, you’ll find the most commonly used cutting methods.
Half-Cut (Kiss-Cut)
Kiss-cutting vinyl in straight or very complex shapes using our various plotters and cutting machines.
Drawing
Extremely precise marking of materials such as self-adhesive or vinyl using the pen tool on our Swiss Zünd cutting machine.
Creasing
Creasing solid cardboard or thin plastic sheets using the creasing wheel on our Swiss Zünd cutting machine.
Embossing
Embossing (crushing) MacDermid Autotype films to create a true 3D effect in this special foil.
Oscillating Cutting
Oscillating cutting (sawing) of honeycomb cardboard or semi-rigid sheets using the EOT250 tool from Zünd.
V-cut
Cutting honeycomb cardboard or semi-rigid sheets at angles of 15°, 30°, or 45° using our Zünd cutting machine.
Cutting with a Knife

Paper and cardboard
Paper and cardboard can be printed and cut on the Zünd cutting machine. Photo wallpaper is also part of this category.
Foil and Sticker Material
Boer & Van Wijk can digitally print foils and stickers in virtually any shape and color using our Epson roll-to-roll printers.
Glass
Glass and plexiglass make truly beautiful products, which we can print perfectly on our SwissQ flatbed printer.
Plastic and Sealwise
Plastic sheets or Sealwise panels can be printed and cut with V-Cut technology to a thickness of up to 8 mm.
Honeycomb Cardboard
Honeycomb cardboard with a respectable thickness of up to 40 mm can be printed, cut, and V-Cut processed.
MacDermid Autotype
These special films can be printed, embossed, and cut. A unique product we are proud to offer at Boer & Van Wijk.

Weeding Kiss-Cut Films
With half-cut films, the surrounding material is often removed so that only the contour-cut film remains. At Boer & Van Wijk, we call this “weeding.” These contour-cut films often consist of text, also known as “cut text.” This type of product is commonly used for displaying opening hours, logos on shop windows, or museum texts.

Each one unique in its cutting method, allowing us to keep everything in-house.
Beyond the Zünd Flatbed Cutter, in addition to our Zünd flatbed cutting table, we also have a slightly smaller Summa flatbed cutting plotter, perfect for contour cutting stickers, both full cut and kiss-cut. In other cases, it’s faster and more efficient to kiss-cut printed vinyl, stickers, or colored cutting films directly from the roll, and for that we use a Summa roll-fed cutting plotter.
In Some Cases, Speed and Efficiency Matter
For printed vinyl, stickers, or colored cutting films, it’s often faster and more practical to kiss-cut them directly from the roll, and that’s exactly what we do with our Summa roll-fed cutting plotter.
ZUND cutting machine
With a size of 3,210 x 2,500 mm, the Zünd G3 3XL-2500 is the ideal flatbed cutting machine. It integrates seamlessly with the many printers we have in-house.
SUMMA cutting plotter
All cut lettering, logos, vehicle graphics, and anything else that needs to be cut from flexible films is done quickly and accurately on these two Summa machines: D120 and S140T.
SUMMA cutting machine
The Summa F1612 flatbed cutting machine, with its 1,600 x 1,200 mm size, is also an essential part of our setup.
